​​​​​​​​​​​​​ALPHA ESQUIRE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
The Iota Rho Lambda Chapter established the Alpha Esquires at its chapter on September 20, 2014.   The Alpha Esquire Leadership Development Program consists of young black men in the metro Detroit area who are in the 8th thru 11th grade.  The purpose of the program is to assist young black men achieve high scholarship, excellence, good leadership skills and maintain progress toward their life goals while becoming a source of inspiration in their own communities. 

​As part of the development of the young men they will be focused on a series of interactive modules which include but not limited to: Time management/Study skills, Leadership skills, Financial planning, Respect for womanhood, Public speaking, etc.

​ELIGIBILITY FOR ALPHA ESQUIRE MEMBERSHIP

  • Male student in grade levels 8th - 11th

  • ​Is in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grade scale

  • ​Provide a copy of most recent transcript or a copy of the candidate's final grade report/report card

  • Provide two letters of recommendation - Adult family or relative; Adult non-family member (i.e. pastor, teacher, counselor, principal, employer, family friend)

  • Provide Life Goal Essay - Why I would like to be an Alpha Esquire; Where I see myself in 10 years

  • Is of good character​
